The final stage before the rest day in the Dakar will separate the men from the boys, with 614 km to be covered, with a special stage of 600 km!. First the competitors will hit a 40 km wide dune strip and then a salt flat, where speeds rarely exceed 10km/h.
In order to be somewhat lenient for the competitors the organisors have raised the time limit to 18.00 hours local time. Everyone that has reached the bivouac by then is allowed to start on Sunday for the eighth stage.
